Checking Out Incubators

During the after school program the 4th graders got a chance to take a look at the incubators we will use for the chicken eggs. they are so excited!!!!!
bottom picture is Mrs. Dolecheck discussing with 4th grade the differences and similarities of the experiences and processes  of  humans and chickens having babies, like both needing to be warm, needing food during development, how long, painful, baby needing to move, etc.

Beginning Chicken Project

4th and 5th graders are going to hatch chickens! They have begun researching the kind they would like to try to hatch. They will learn how to incubate eggs, check how the embryos are doing, and how to care for chicks. They will also hopefully see some career opportunities in the field of embryology. The goal is to sell the chicks in May and have funds to buy eggs next year to do this project again.

This is our first 4th grade class beginning their research. We'll let everyone know what chicks we are going to try to hatch when both 4th and 5th grade have chosen their chickens.
