A few weeks ago Liz Haugee and her friend Ouch came to Pillar Falls to tell students how to be safe around electrical outlets and electricity. Kinders and 1st graders welcomed them with excited smiles and energetic voices.

For the first quarter all classes are learning about the Scientific Method. Elephant Toothpaste was a big hit as we began learning the steps. Many older students had a pretty good idea of what was going to happen, but they were still only making a hypothesis. As we did the activity I directed the students to think in the terms of observe, question, hypothesis, experiment, analyze results, and communicating with others. Below are a few of our elephant toothpaste creations.
A lot off change has been going on in our district. I have made as big a one as a lot of our students have. I am at 2 new schools this year. I will be making friends at Pillar Falls and Perrine. I have already seen some familiar faces! I am excited to get things started. I am hoping that this year brings lots of fun and learning to the students. I know it will for me.
